🌿 Essiac Traditional Herbal Tea Blend

A revered four herb botanical formula traditionally used to support the body's natural cleansing and restorative processes.

This carefully crafted blend combines sheep sorrel, burdock root, slippery elm inner bark and turkey rhubarb root in classic proportions inspired by the original Essiac preparation.

Traditionally used by herbalists, these herbs work synergistically to support the body’s natural detoxification processes, digestive function and overall internal balance.

Roots, bark and whole plant botanicals are used to honour the traditional preparation method, allowing the deeper plant compounds to be extracted through a slow decoction.

The result is a rich, earthy herbal infusion designed for those seeking to work with plants in a deeper and more intentional way.

Prepared traditionally, Essiac produces a strong botanical tea that has been valued for generations within natural wellness traditions.

Crafted for those who appreciate authentic herbal preparations and traditional plant knowledge.

🌿 Traditional Preparation Method

Essiac is traditionally prepared as a decoction, allowing the roots and bark to fully release their plant compounds.

Add 1 tablespoon of the herbal blend to 1 litre of water.

Bring to a boil and allow the herbs to simmer gently for 10 minutes.

Remove from heat, cover and allow to steep for 8 to 12 hours (overnight).

Reheat gently the following day until hot but not boiling.

Strain through a course sieve and store the prepared tea in a sterilised glass bottle in the refrigerator.

🌿 Important Preparation Note

This blend contains whole herbs alongside powdered slippery elm bark, which is naturally rich in soothing mucilage.

During preparation, you may notice slight cloudiness or fine sediment — this is normal and part of the active plant compounds.

🌿 Straining & Use

• Strain using a coarse sieve to remove larger herbs
• Do not over-filter — some fine sediment should remain
• Shake or stir before use to redistribute the herbal compounds

Avoid fine cloth straining, as this may remove beneficial mucilage.

🌿 Why This Matters

The natural sediment supports gut soothing, digestive balance, and overall effectiveness of the blend.

For best results, consume with these compounds intact.

🌿 Suggested Use

Traditionally consumed as 30 ml (approximately 1 oz) once or twice daily on an empty stomach. The tea can be taken neat or diluted with warm water if preferred.

Shake before use as natural plant sediment may settle.

Prepared tea should be refrigerated and used within 1 week.

🌿 Yield

Each 50 g pouch contains approximately 16 to 20 tablespoons of the herbal blend.

Prepared using the traditional method of 1 tablespoon per litre of water, this pouch will produce approximately 16 to 20 litres of Essiac tea.

As the prepared tea is typically taken in small daily servings (30mls 1-2x per day), one pouch can provide several weeks of use when prepared traditionally.

This 50g blend yields approximately 16–20 litres of prepared tea, providing around 533–667 servings at 30 ml per serving. Taken once daily, this equates to approximately 533–667 days’ worth, or 266–333 days when taken twice daily. To preserve freshness and extend shelf life, prepared Essiac tea can be frozen into ice cubes once cooled. Simply pour into trays.

🌿 Storage

Store the dried herbal blend in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight.
